"The primary aim of ME Research UK is to fund biomedical research into ME/CFS; to find its cause, to develop effective treatments, and ultimately to discover a cure.

Our priority is novel clinical and biomedical studies that help to unravel the biology of ME/CFS, and studies that may point towards therapeutic strategies.

We specifically invite applications for pilot studies or seed-corn projects, particularly those which seek support for consumables rather than staff costs, from researchers anywhere in the world.

Following the lead of the report by the Working Party to the Chief Medical Officer of England in 2002, our priority is to support studies investigating the following:

• the cause of ME, and how the illness progresses,
• the effectiveness of potential treatments,
• the prevalence of ME, and the prognosis for patients,
• what characterises the different subgroups of ME."
